BDA alumni newsletter | February 2025

Dear Alumni,

2024 was a year of two halves. H1 was effectively a continuation of the poor conditions we experienced in 2023. H2 saw a positive change and a much better deal-making environment and momentum.

2025 is already looking much better, and hopefully, trade wars and other silliness emanating from Washington will not derail what should be a good year for M&A.

  • Our Korean practice had a strong 2024, closing high-profile deals – including the market’s first SaaS buyout, a US$2bn infrastructure deal between IMM and KKR, and an interesting Korea-to-US cross-border FIG deal
  • Other high-profile transactions in 2024 include advising Mitsubishi Corp on a large investment into G-Cash, the largest fintech player in the Philippines; working alongside Blair to sell the aviation components platform Farsound to Onex; advising Indian-listed Coforge on the acquisition of Cigniti, a digital engineering services company; and handling transactions for repeat clients Doosan, Magna, NSSK and Endeavour United
  • We hosted our 6th annual PE Conference in October in Singapore, which has become a signature event for us within the Asian PE community
  • We continued our commitment to giving back to our communities. In November, all employees again took a few hours away from work to join our annual BDA CSR day and to spend time lending a hand in our communities
  • We also announced 14 promotions in January

Notwithstanding the market backdrop, we announced 17 transactions in 2024.

We love to hear from you, even better to see you in person. Please stay in touch and share your news or any deal referrals you may have.

Best regards,

Paul DiGiacomo
Managing Partner

Alumni in Focus

For our eighth Alumni in Focus, we would like to highlight Margaret Albright, who worked at BDA in Administration, Operations and HR for over 5 years (December 2014 – April 2021).

What have you been up to lately in business?

I am a consultant with Willis Towers Watson, advising on a wide range of people-related challenges and working with organizations to optimize their human capital and improve their overall workforce strategy. Some of my favorite projects are working with our M&A clients, helping them to harmonize their people functions post-merger.

What inspired you to go down this journey?

Working alongside my BDA colleagues to further develop BDA’s people functions revealed my passion for the strategic building and development of organizational capabilities. This insight has since allowed me to apply my expertise in creating tailored solutions for a diverse range of clients across the U.S.

Life post BDA

My husband and I moved to Los Angeles, CA, at the end of 2023. While we miss New York City, the constant sunshine, mild winters, and proximity to the ocean has been a nice change.

Do you miss anything from BDA?

I miss the people! I love all the friends and connections I made during my tenure at BDA. It was always a pleasure and an honor to get to work from other BDA offices and meet colleagues in real life.

How did BDA equip you for your current success?

BDA’s collaborative and open culture fostered significant professional growth during my tenure. By embracing new opportunities and receiving strong guidance and support from Euan (and Bill, and Charlie and Claus and many more) I was able to expand my skills and expertise at an accelerated rate.
